I hardly ever talk about where I live on here. Even though I was born in Tennessee I know live in West Michigan, near the city of Grand Rapids. I moved here around 10 years ago with my family. For people that aren’t aware of what this area is like all I can say is that it is predominately conservative. Now two things have been going on in this area over the last several months that I feel need to be addressed. Both involve the city of Holland, which is on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. The first issue involved the Holland city council voting and subsequently voting down an ordinance that would outlaw discrimination based on sexual preference and the second one is more recent and involves the organization Until Love is Equal (check them out here) and the controversy over them buying billboard space. So let’s look at these individually.
In the fall of 2007 the world of porn changed, some say for the worse but I will leave that up to you, with the release of Not the Bradys XXX from X-Play. The movie became one of the top selling DVDs of the year and sparked a new trend, the porn parody. Now sure, the adult industry has a history of using the general plot of a mainstream movie or using mainstream titles in creative ways for their own movies but they had never really taken an entire concept and story and made it into a porn movie.
